iplmatch Batting Order & T20 Roles — Explainer
Understanding iplmatch batting order helps you follow why a pinch-hitter suddenly walks out at No. 4, or why a “finisher” bats at No. 6. T20 line-ups are built around roles more than traditional “best batter first”. Below is a simple map — real teams mix and match based on match-ups.
1. Openers (1–2)
Face the new ball and the powerplay field. Goals: survive swing/seam, cash in when only two fielders are out. Left–right combinations can mess with bowlers’ lines.
2. Top order / anchor (3–4)
Often the best reader of spin or the stabiliser if openers fall cheaply. In some teams this slot attacks spin in the middle overs.
3. Middle order (5–6)
Flexible hitters who can rebuild or explode. This is where match-ups show up — a batter who hits spin well might be promoted if the middle overs are spin-heavy.
4. Finishers (6–7 and beyond)
Lower-order power with limited balls — think strike rate under pressure, range-hitting against yorkers, and smart running. See death overs for why this role is specialist.
5. Fantasy link
Picking players who bat in the top four usually means more balls — but a finisher with two overs to win a game can outscore everyone. Balance using captain / VC framework.
